UTICA, NY- The Utica Blue Sox announced today the signing of RHP Alex Markus for the 2022 season. This will be his first year with the Blue Sox.

Markus hails from Richmond, Virginia. He attended Benedictine College Preparatory where he played two years of varsity baseball. While there he won the Most Improved award, a state championship, and was part of one of the highest ranked teams in the nation. He is now a junior at Roanoke College in Virginia, where he is eager to get more playing time after experiencing injuries and the pandemic.

Markus has been playing baseball for as long as he can remember. He came later to pitching, starting to get serious about it when he noticed his velocity began to rise in his sophomore year of high school. Since then, he has worked hard to develop more and foster his passion for the game and pitching.

Markus discovered the Blue Sox through the coaches at Roanoke. “I’ve never really been to New York and I think it’s really really cool to play in New York”. He is excited to participate in the summer league, eager to get out on the field and play hard.
