UTICA, NY–The Utica Blue Sox announced this week that Roanoke, VA and Limestone University RHP Gehrig Spradlin is the next Blue Sox roster addition for 2022.

Spradlin has always had pitching in mind, saying “I played both pitcher and infield from a very young age, so I always felt that that was what I would be best at, and I always liked pitching the most. However, he thought “pitching would give me the best chance to continue playing at the next level.” Like most of the players joining the Blue Sox this summer, Spradlin said he “doesn’t know anything” about Utica and that he is looking forward to the challenge of that.

Spradlin also noted how excited he was for the upcoming season, saying “playing ball is always fun, and I get to do it in a completely new environment against a lot of different players from different backgrounds.” Spradlin said he fell in love with baseball at a very early age, so he will enjoy playing baseball wherever and whatever situation he is in. Spradlin also said he “likes to compete” and “doesn’t throw very hard, but I play smart.”  In terms of what the fans can expect from him this summer, he assured them that he will “compete and try to win every game every night.”
