Coach JOE CROSSLEY

JOE CROSSLEY

Joe enters his third season as the Junior Blue Sox assistant coach in 2025, first in Senior Legion.

Joe Crossley, the head assistant coach, was a crucial figure in the team’s historic 2024 season. His deep knowledge of the game and his ability to connect with players on a personal level made him an invaluable asset to the coaching staff. Crossley’s emphasis on preparation and attention to detail helped the team maintain a high level of consistency and determination throughout the season, particularly during their remarkable 10-game win streak to close out the regular season. As the third base coach, the team set a new single season stolen base record, going 104 for 111 in 29 games.

Crossley’s influence extended beyond just the physical aspects of the game; he played a significant role in fostering a strong team culture centered around resilience and mental toughness. This was especially evident after the team suffered a tough loss in the opening game of the district playoffs. Under Crossley’s guidance, the players regrouped and went on a nine-game winning streak, which included defeating Utica Post twice to claim the District Championship for the first time in program history.

His ability to keep the team focused and motivated during the high-stakes moments of the NYS tournament and regional play against Connecticut was pivotal. Crossley’s leadership and strategic insights were key factors in the team’s ability to sweep all opponents in the state tournament and continue their momentum into the regional round. His contributions were instrumental in the team’s growth and success, setting a new standard for the program and leaving a lasting impact on the players and the entire coaching staff.

Joe Crossley played for five seasons at Utica University, holding program career records in many categories. Joe had 125 career hits, .409 on-base percentage, and five home runs. In 2022, Joe received first team conference honors, falling one vote short for Conference Player of the Year.
