Blue Sox Sign Trio From Marshall

UTICA, NY– The Utica Blue Sox announce the signing of Sam Thompson, Avery Lee, and 

Christian Hile from Marshall University. All three members of the Herd have finished up their freshman season, and are preparing for their first go-around in Utica. 

 

Thompson, a left-handed pitcher out of Louisville, Kentucky, appeared in eight games of relief for the Herd. The Southpaw totaled 6.0 IP, 2 ER, and 7 K’s for his freshman season. Thompson dominated opponents in high school with a 2.29 ERA in 52 innings pitched. The lefty made 2nd team All-State, All-Region team, and All-District team. 

 

Of the trio to sign with the Sox, Lee is the only position player. The 5-10 infielder from West Virginia played in ten games for the Herd, notching 5 hits in 11 at-bats. Lee attended Wheeling Central Catholic High School where he earned first-team all-state in 2019. 

 

Hile, a right-handed pitcher out of Lovettsville, Virginia,  didn’t appear in any games his freshman season. The righty played baseball at Woodgrove High School where he was named 2021 1st team All-Region Pitcher and 2nd team All-Region Oufielder.
