The Utica Blue Sox are pleased to announce the signing of OF Tim McHugh for the 2022 season. This will be McHugh’s first season as a member of the Blue Sox.

McHugh is a native to New York, having been raised in Commack, Long Island. He attended his local high school, Commack High School, where he stood out as an outfielder.

In high school he was a two-time all-county winner and was a key contributor to his team winning the Suffolk County Championship in his sophomore year. His junior year would be his most productive, he would win league MVP and a Silver Slugger award.

After spending a semester at the University of Tennessee, he returned to New York and is currently a junior at St. John’s University. There he posted a .400 OBP while playing primarily center and right field during the 2021 season.

At St. John’s, he is a business major with plans of getting a Masters degree. With that degree he hopes to start a business one day that he can operate on the side as he pursues another main career.

McHugh is very excited to join the Utica Blue Sox and play in upstate New York. He stated, “When I saw that intro video with the new facility, it looks awesome. I think it will be a good time”.
