Utica Ends Ten Game Losing Streak Behind Solid Pitching Performance

The Utica Blue Sox end their ten game losing streak on Sunday night with a 10-1

win over the Geneva Red Wings thanks to a complete game by starting pitcher

Dylan Leahy (Keystone College). Leahy went all nine innings only allowing one run

on five hits and two walks.

Utica gave up an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first to the Red Wings, but never

looked back after that scoring ten unanswered runs on way to a 10-1 victory.

Devon Garcia (Ohio) had a spark at the plate tonight going 2-5 with a home run

and three RBI’s on the night. Kyle Norman (Buffalo) also added three RBI’s on the

night for the Sox on two hits through four at-bats.

Pitching the complete game, Leahy got the win for Utica pitching nine innings

allowing just one run all game, that run coming in the top of the first. This was his

first win of the season. Geneva’s starter Jordan Murphy (UT Dallas) was booked

with the loss in a short outing only working three and two-thirds innings,

allowing seven runs on ten hits and three walks.

With the win Utica snaps a ten game losing skid and earned their fourth win on

the season giving them a 4-10 record overall. They have an off day on Monday

and are on the road at Adirondack at 7:05PM on Tuesday.

With the loss Geneva falls to 9-5 on the season. The Red Wings remain on the

road on Monday as they travel to Newark for a 7:05PM game against the Pilots.
