Blue Sox Fall on the Road to Glens Falls 6-3
Glens Falls (4-6) 6, Utica (3-8) 3
The Dragons scored four runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth inning to take a six-run lead, and then held off a late rally but the Blue Sox to secure the win at East Field. Nicholas Jacques (Le Moyne) drove in the first two runs of the game with a two-RBI single, which sparked the four-spot in the fourth. Consecutive sac flies in the fifth allowed the Dragons to increase their advantage to 6-0. In the top of the sixth, the Blue Sox loaded the bases with three consecutive singles and plated two runs on a Cole Pursell (Willamette) base knock. Zane Harris (Wright State) followed with an RBI single to cut the deficit in half, 6-3. Although Utica had two runners on in the eighth and one on in the ninth, the Blue Sox were unable to come any closer. Glens Falls starter James Varela (LIU Post) picked up the win with a strong 8.0 innings, as he allowed just three runs on seven hits and six strikeouts.
